*RTB* Stops by Philly’s Fine Art and Craft Exhibition and Sale!

StrawberryInvite09

Sister and I recently went on a Philly excursion looking to scope out some vintage shops and hopefully discover a few up-and coming local designers. Well, the City of Brotherly Love sure did not disappoint! Philadelphia, PN is a gold mine (no pun intended) for anyone craving a creative fix. We decided to hit up the Fine Arts and Crafts Exhibition and Sale, held at the serene Horticulture Center, to see what or who we could find.

The first designer we met,  Zivile Pupinyte of Zevile Art, was probably one of the most eclectic. We were immediately drawn to her edgy  jewelry collection and personal style. Zivile’s designs are a successful combination of organic components personalized with an innovative touch; simultaneously making her collection classy but modern.  My personal favorite were the folded-over leather earrings ($45) she is wearing in the picture below.

The next designer that grabbed our attention was Typhaney Shanker of Typhaney B. Designs. Although for some reason I can’t find the pics we took, she had some pretty dope pieces in her collection as well.

As you can see, her designs are very in tune with the latest trends; doing a great job of  incorporating  the chunky, layered necklace and bib style with earthy elements like agate and howlite stones and sea shells. We absolutely love it!

We stopped DEAD IN OUR TRACKS when we saw the above Cape Hattares Leather Necklace ($68) at her booth, so of course I had to post it =)

Lastly, I’m really diggin’ these Filigree Earrings, and they’re a steal at $25. For more info on Typhany B’s jewelry check out her website.

Nina Basharova’s jewelry is a testament to a timeless elegance. She showcased her handmade The Pod Collection, which was mostly comprised of sterling silver pieces embellished with small stones in a “peas in a pod” formation. We especially loved the bangles which would look great stacked on one’s wrists. For more about her collections visit  www.NinaBasharova.com.

On a sidenote, I am absolutely addicted to natural products. From shampoos/conditioners to lotions and body washes (I have very sensitive skin), so I was stoked to see a booth stocked with my obsessions (which is second only to jewelry-of course!). To You, From Me Soaps is a home based company that sells a full range of natural products from bar soaps and body oils to lip balms and even candles. I absolutely LOVE the Ultra RichWhipped Body Butter I bought (it was cold and my hands were getting ashy, lol). I’m addicted to the smell. I bought “Indigenous”-which has a smoky vanilla/cinnamon-y aroma. The texture of the whipped butter, which is made of organic african shea butter and essential oils (among other things), is very light and creamy. It dissolved well into my skin, leaving my hands moisturized but NOT greasy. I’m definitely keeping this one in the purse during my winter outings.

There were so many more jewelry designers there showcasing really creative collections. If you fall upon any local craft or art exhibits in your area I would highly recommend making a pit-stop! We love to support local designers!

Stay tuned for another post about our vintage jewelry shopping experience in Philly!!! It was a busy weekend!!!
