Shayla Cox's Guerilla Fashion Show, Ceramic Jewelry + Spring's Hottest Trends!

Talk about impact!

Could you imagine minding your own business around town then witnessing these girls stampeding towards you? With the sidewalk as their runway, these ladies did their thing rockin’ spring’s hottest trends (nudes, pastels, flowy skirts and 40s inspired menswear), providing the perfect back drop to feature Shayla Cox’s ceramic jewelry. I’m lovin the simplistic approach to her jewelry line, basic lines and shapes but each piece delivers its impact by size, texture and color. I also appreciate that they layer so well together.  Much props to stylist Pamela Shepard for putting these looks together. Frresshhhh!!!!

…and it looks like they got the June Ambrose stamp of approval! She is so faaaab btw!

Nautical Stripes and Tribal Beads

This one is from a couple weeks ago, I just realized I never published it #oops.  Also taken via the MacBook (I promise to buy a camera sooner than later)

Please ignore the background…lol…I need to work on that…

I tried giving my black +white outfit a little “spice” by adding a colorful tribal necklace and jewelry in vintage gold. Got a lot of compliments on the bling that day!

I just realized most of what I’m wearing are things I’ve picked up at Urban Outfitters over the years (triple finger ring, nautical stripped shirt, and bracelet)

Earrings from Chico’s (<—they sell GREAT jewelry there!)

Tribal necklace purchased at an InterGem Jewelry Show.

Banana Republic ring on clearance (<—another great place for jewelry!)

And that’s it! Any good recommendations on a camera to buy? I’m looking into a Nikon D60…

Otherwise, have a good Sunday!

Bullet Girl Jewelry + Outfit Suggestions!

Cease fire! Cease fire!

Well, if I had known going to the range could result in beautiful jewelry being made I probably wouldn’t try to avoid it every year! [read: Army Reserves]

Bullet Girl jewelry is a new jewelry line made out of real bullets plated in 24K gold and rhodium them morphed into various trendy but timeless pieces; including collar and pendant necklaces, flower earrings made of bullet caps, wrist wear, ringwear and much more. They even have a fine jewelry collection featuring bullets accented with pearls and diamonds! It’s dangerously sexy!  Per their website, “the woman who wears our jewelry is able to see beauty in all things; isn’t afraid of risks; is secure within herself; and understands the importance of balance. It’s the right ammunition for women who choose to fight back for the right reasons.”

All in all, this line is made for the confident, classy woman with an edge.  Check out some of the pieces below!

[.357 MAG rhodium plated bullet wtih CZ cap ring]

[223 REM 24K gold plated with .357 MAG CZ cap earrings]

[44'' pearl strand with .223 REM CZ cap and .17 MM]

[.223 REM 24K gold plated bullet bracelet]

[.223 REM 24K gold plated bullet necklace]

This line is the perfect compliment to the military-inspired trend forecasted for this fall!  My dream outfit to accessorize this line includes:

[Juicy Couture fine cotton-blend wrap cardigan]

[Cloebella Cantina mini bag]

[Jeffrey Campbell Lots Shoe]

…and yes, clothes are my accessories; my jewels are the essentials =P

BTW Bullet Girl jewelry was recently featured on one of my favorite blogs-WhoWhatWear.com! Looks like they’re going places!

Thanks for the tip Alexa! Definetly looking forward to more from this line!

Anatomy + Fashion, A Match Made in Heaven

DSquared’s Spine Heel Ankle boots inspired me to come up with a little outfit…

While it may appear a little vulgar to some (mom), I’m really drawn to fashion with anatomical influences like bones and organs (I guess it makes sense, considering my current 9-5 is in the medical field). This ensemble combines my two loves, anatomy + fashion, seamlessly…

The Heart Necklace by Lillian Crowe, for $99 via etsy.com. I actually bought the gunmetal version of the necklace at a flea market in brooklyn and it is absolutely GORGEOUS! I only bought mine for $70 #takethat lol =P

The Sandwashed Silk Drawstring Jacket by Walter is timeless and currently on sale on Gilt.com for $109.

And alas…

DSquared’s 160 mm Nappa Spine Heel Ankle Boots (um, marry me???)

I really can’t get enough of this shoe!

Rock With Me! Caribbean Wine Festival Mode

I had way too much fun at the Caribbean Wine Festival hosted by Linganore Winecellars  in MD this past weekend! I mean, wine tasting + food + reggae admits great company? Doesn’t get any better than that =P

Below is what I “rocked”…

I L.O.V.E this ring I got at the International Gem and Jewelry Show I attended a week or so ago (OMG I racked up there!). I think it cost about $20.

The chain-linked pearl bracelet is from Forever 21. Dress is from Nordstrom x 2 years ago. I don’t mean to toot my own horn but…toot! toot!..I thought all the colors came together nicely!

Be easy y’all!

*RTB* Styling for the House Of Jaz Photoshoot!

I have made the decision that photoshoots need to be a part of my daily life! Not as the subject (I’m kinda camera shy), but as a stylist! Last week I was lucky enough to be a part of a photoshoot my good friend Jaz of HouseofJaz.com was conducting for an up and coming venture, and asked me if I could help out with the styling portion. Empress, a dope emcee who happens to be amazing behind the camera, took care of photography and the aesthetics. We had so much fun! Check out the pics below!

Earrings from Aldo.

Cuffs and ring compliments of Forever 21.

Earrings and bangle from Forever 21, multi-strand beaded necklace purchased at World Market.

“Hope” double finger ring and bangles from Forever 21, statement ring from Aldo, Large disck earrings from Bebe.

Pearls and Cherry Blossoms, Easter Sunday in District!

Today was such a great day in District! It started off a little late (due to a certain someone ::ahem:: on serious c.p. time); but my cousin Robin was dressed to a “T”and a photo session was in order! She managed to put together one of the most ecclectic Easter ensembles I’ve seen yet! Robin accessorized a bright yellow Ann Taylor blouse along with a pair of wide-leg khakis with statement bracelets and an eye-catching multi-strand pearl necklace that was very reminsiscent to the one Rihanna wore to the “Inglorious Basterds” Premier. The Cherry Blossom Festival was in full effect today, providing the perfect backdrop for our photoshoot. Enjoy!

The dish:

[Jewelry]Multi-Strand Pearl Necklace: H&M, Pearl Cuff Bracelet from Charming Charlie, Watch: Michael Kors Oversized Unisex Runway Watch, Statement Ring from Bakers, Pearl Earrings from Payless

[Clothing] Blouse: Ann Taylor, Pants: Express, Shoes: J.Crew

Rihanna and Zoe Saldana Rock Spring’s Biggest Trends on the Red Carpet

These two fashionistas are glowing in Spring’s biggest trends, both wearing pastel-colored ensembles that are detailed with structured shoulders and  accessorized with long but subtle, layered chains!  They look effortless, dont they??? Rihanna is wearing a Christian Dior minidress at the 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards, and Zoe Saldana wore Roland Mouret Couture at her Avatar Movie Premier. Lovely ladies!!!
